(CNN Spanish) - After almost five months of investigations and search, the Minister of Government of Ecuador, María Paula Romo, reported Thursday that José Manuel Guacho was arrested, a man linked by the police as the alleged author of the assault against the journalist of the Teleamazonas chain during the violent protests of October in the country.

Freddy Paredes was assaulted with a stone in his head when he was leaving a cover in the House of Culture of Quito where the indigenous sector was concentrated during the 11 days of demonstrations.

Through videos the Police could identify the alleged aggressor who approached a few meters to throw the stone in the head at the communicator who was unconscious for a few minutes.

Minister Romo wrote that the captured "will be immediately placed under the orders of justice."

In his Twitter account, the journalist thanked the Police and the Minister of Government "for the political will to collaborate with justice."

After the October aggression that caused him a 30-day work disability, journalist Freddy Paredes filed a complaint for "attempted murder" before the Prosecutor's Office against José Manuel Guacho, now detained.

The Prosecutor's Office reported that he made charges against the detainee for the crime of injury, with a disability of 31 to 90 days and issued preventive detention for José Guacho, who was a fugitive. CNN does not know if it has legal representation.

On October 10, the Teleamazonas channel, in a statement, expressed its rejection of the assault on Freddy Paredes. The chain said it accepts discrepancies and criticism but no aggression or violence.
