Residents of the "Dutch streets" neighborhood demand that the municipality perform comprehensive tests after a series of infections in recent weeks • "Fear of an outbreak"

Another case of infection with the Corona virus was confirmed Thursday in Rehovot and again in the Dutch Rehovot neighborhood. As a result, residents of the neighborhood demanded inquiries from the city's regional health bureau to conduct comprehensive examinations, thereby joining Mayor Mercy Merul's call.

At present, the city's weekly doubling ratio stands at 1.18 percent and the city has entered the Ministry of Health's red list of cities. There are 22 active patients in the city and since the outbreak of the epidemic 127 people have been diagnosed in the city.

The Ministry of Health promised to conduct tests in the specific locations where the cases were discovered, including a school, kindergarten and a shelter. In a statement from the municipal officials, all tests will be conducted in the coming days. At the same time as the number of cases increases, the possibility of taking isolation measures in the neighborhood, whether a breather or another closure, is being considered.

Today, the municipality confirmed that, according to a health ministry permit, it was found that a caretaker for "Beit Hannah" hostel on Mount Moriah Street in the "Dutch streets" neighborhood was found to be carrying the Corona virus. As a result, 27 hostel occupants and three staff members were isolated. Ministry of Health officials are expected to conduct tests tomorrow for those staying at the site. The Rehovot Municipality's social services department is in contact with the hostel's management.

Fear of corona eruption at a geriatric institution

The case joins a teacher at Navon School in the same neighborhood that turned out to be sick yesterday after an educational counselor, teacher and two second-graders at the institution became infected with the virus. Following the initial cases, the school in the neighborhood was closed for two weeks, and dozens of students were placed in isolation. After the counselor was diagnosed, corona detection tests were conducted for all school educators.

It was later discovered that the brother of one of the infected students, a boy studying in a private garden in the neighborhood, was also infected with the virus. 18 children and three preschoolers entered the isolation. At the same time yesterday, another case of a fifth-grader from the "Shuvu" school who was diagnosed with the virus was discovered.

It should be noted that when the first case was discovered, the mayor demanded mercy from examinations for all those staying in solitary confinement alongside carrying tests. After a comprehensive meeting yesterday, the mayor announced that the request had been accepted, and Sunday, all teachers in the prudent school would be re-examined as well as all the children who went into solitary confinement.

Tests will also be conducted for all families of the children in isolation. According to sources in the municipality, the Ministry of Health has also decided to actively monitor all absences in the neighborhood educational institutions and in any case of absence will be examined the reason.

Neighborhood Residents: Test everyone

At the same time, the level of concern rose and today residents demanded that everyone be tested. "There is a fear that this is an outbreak. Little children are infected or carried and their family members may be infected and they do not know. The Ministry of Health has fallen asleep here.

Also, no one publishes the route of the patients and where they are infected and that is a default. There is also no enforcement of guidelines and in the neighborhood half of the people walk around the street without a mask or protective measures. Who knows how many more are infected. Otherwise, there will be a total closure, "they said.
