A 14-year-old teenager was indicted Thursday, November 5 for "
attempted homicide
" and remanded in custody after seriously injuring a gendarme by hitting him with a stolen car in Thiers (Puy-de-Dôme), learned AFP to the prosecution.
The minor was also indicted for "
theft in a meeting and lack of a driving license
" before being placed in pre-trial detention, Clermont-Ferrand public prosecutor Eric Maillaud told AFP.
Benefiting from the excuse of minority, he risks 30 years of imprisonment and should be tried by a juvenile court, he said.

His passenger, a 13-year-old teenager, was also indicted for “
theft in a meeting and not preventing a crime or an offense
”.
Three other young people, aged 14, 16 and 18, were indicted for the “
theft in assembly
” of the car.

They helped steal the vehicle, got on board but got off a few moments before the shock,
" said Eric Maillaud.
Some were known to the police and one of them had been heard the day before by a juvenile court in connection with a narcotics case, he said.
At midday on Wednesday, a 32-year-old reservist gendarme, who was carrying out a securing operation on the outskirts of a school, had been violently struck by a motorist whom he had asked to stop.
The driver had then fled in his vehicle, before abandoning the car to continue on foot.
Five teenagers - four minors and a young adult - were then arrested and placed in police custody.
The vehicle, a La Poste car, had been stolen shortly before the events nearby.

Thrown several meters from the shock, the gendarme had been transported to the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital where he was operated on and plunged into an artificial coma.

He suffers from a double tibia-fibula fracture, a skull fracture and multiple bruises
", according to the prosecutor.

This (Wednesday) morning, in Thiers, a reservist gendarme was violently hit by a stolen vehicle.
He is seriously injured.

All means are being implemented to find the perpetrators who fled,
