The renowned facility at the gates of the historic old town was built in 1981, completely renovated in 2004 and currently houses almost 70 residents.
However, the dementia center does not comply with the provisions of the Housing and Care Quality Act in the Free State that have been in force since 2011.
The standards stipulate, among other things, accessibility and minimum room sizes as well as a high proportion of single rooms, explains Linda Quadflieg, press spokeswoman for the AWO district association of Upper Bavaria, in an interview with our newspaper.
Since extensive renovation measures or an extension on the property on Paradiesweg are out of the question, not least for economic reasons, the AWO first applied to the district office in Bad Tölz for temporary protection.

"The facility requested an extension of the deadline for the implementation of the minimum structural requirements in accordance with the ordinance for the implementation of the Nursing and Living Quality Act and further training in nursing and midwifery," reports the press spokeswoman for the district authority, Sabine Schmid.
The district office approved the application "due to the new building announced for 2026", explains Schmid.
AWO spokeswoman Quadflieg confirms the new building plans: "Yes, something has to happen by 2026." According to her, the existing location is to be abandoned - and a modern, larger dementia center will be built elsewhere.
A potential location is still green field
The potential location is currently an agricultural area north of the An der Loisach business park. The municipality bought the area about two years ago - and the city council unanimously initiated a change to the zoning plan at its meeting on Thursday evening in the Loisachhalle. The city council unanimously commissioned the planning association for the outer economic area of Munich to change the zoning plan. As early as September 2020, the city council's building committee set the course for the decision made last Thursday. The technical committee unanimously recommended both the amendment of the land use plan and the preparation of a development plan for the sub-area north of the commercial area on the motorway feeder: "A special area dementia center with outpatient and inpatient care places, ancillary facilities and staff apartments is planned as the type of structural use."
The AWO welcomes the actions of the city of Wolfratshausen, although the decision initially only creates the "basis" for the further procedure, said press spokeswoman Quadflieg. It does not deny that the AWO is interested in buying the property in order to build a new building on it. But she cannot comment on the details of a plan at the moment.
