The extension of the day care center on Erich-Kästner-Straße will probably cost more than expected.

That became clear in the Holzkirchen local council when the draft with cost calculation was presented.

Holzkirchen

- Nothing changes in the schedule - but for the expansion of the Kinderland daycare center on Erich-Kästner-Straße, the market community will have to dig deeper into their pockets than they once thought: the construction will probably cost more than 9.5 million euros. This became clear in the local council when architect Matthias Marschner from the Hirner und Riehl office presented the design including the cost calculation for the extension. The building application has now also been submitted. If everything goes according to plan, the extension will be handed over in autumn 2023.

Architecturally, the extension is based on the existing building. Seven new groups are accommodated in it. The result is a daycare center that can accommodate around 300 children. Whereby the word extension stacks, as Mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU) says: “This is a full-fledged kindergarten.” The Miesbach district office ordered that the extension can in principle be operated as a separate kindergarten. “Can - but doesn't have to,” emphasizes Schmid. The current operator of the day care center on Erich-Kästner-Straße, Kinderland Weyarn GmbH, also wants to take over the additional places (we reported). However, should another operator start up there at some point, he does not have to take over the entire kindergarten. Despite the size, the children are housed in "lots of small, intimate groups", emphasizes Schmid.

The previous rough cost estimate must be corrected upwards with the calculation that is now available. Accordingly, the cultivation will cost around 9.5 million euros, around 680,000 euros more than previously assumed. There have been price increases everywhere, explained Marschner, in some cases up to 25 percent. This is particularly true for wood - a raw material that plays an important role in the architecture of the daycare center on Erich-Kästner-Straße.

Martina Neldel (Greens) praised Marschner's design.

“A successful model is entering the second round,” she said.

With regard to the costs, Neldel commented: “Our children are worth it to us.” Simon Ammer (SPD) emphasized the need for more childcare places and put pressure: “We are grateful for every day that the extension is finished earlier.” Whether Sebastian Franz (CSU) wanted to know that there is further potential for savings.

One should be thrifty anyway, explained Marschner.

“We look at every end that we are installing the cheapest solution.” At the same time, they want to build sustainably and not have to renovate again after ten years.

The municipal council unanimously approved the draft including the cost calculation.
