It was almost like before the pandemic: The Lenggries summer market attracted numerous people on Sunday who strolled through the stalls.

The shops were also open in the afternoon.

Lenggries - “The people of Lenggries can be proud of themselves that they dare.” The traveling dealer Andreas Mendeb, one of the exhibitors at the summer market in Brauneck-Dorf, expressed this praise on Sunday.

Everything else was canceled. ”In Lenggries, on the other hand, the market street, where most of the stalls were set up, was filled with visitors all day long.

Willingness to take part on Sunday shopping was great

As for many other retailers, it was only the first or second market for Penzberg Mendeb with its stand for cell phone accessories such as covers or vehicle mounts that it was able to fill in the Corona year 2021 so far.

From 1 p.m. onwards, a number of Lenggries shops were open, which were also very popular.

"That was pretty turbulent overall," said Martina Müller, chairwoman of the Lenggries advertising association, and emphasized: "After the long period of lockdown, the willingness of colleagues to unlock their shop on Sunday was particularly great."

She also considered the mixed weather with recurring light showers to be ideal: "Not so bad that you absolutely have to stay at home, but also not so hot that everyone is drawn to the Isar or the bathing lakes."

For many stand operators it is only the second market this year

Even if the stalls were set up in a slightly smaller number and with greater spacing than usual on earlier Lenggries market Sundays, due to the Corona, the numerous visitors clearly enjoyed being able to stroll through the streets again at ease. The range of goods offered left little to be desired. In addition to several snack bars - from bratwurst to fried fish - there were stalls with clothing, leather goods, sunglasses, care products, pans and healing ointments. And the knife sharpener and the vegetable cutter, offered loudly, were not missing.

Gabriele Kraft's stand acted like a magnet, especially for the youngest and smallest visitors.

The gas-filled balloons in the form of animal figures were the best sellers.

“I really didn't think that so many people would come in this weather.

The balloons go away like hot cakes, ”said the Gilching native, who also offered roasted almonds and a Haribo range, happily.

For Kraft, too, it was only the second market this Corona year.

"It's just nice to meet people again after a long time"

"This is the first market we have visited since Christmas," explained Dennis Schenker from Penzberg.

His handcrafted decorative items, all made of horseshoes, met with great interest from the Lenggries people: "It's just nice to meet people again after a long time," he said.

"And you can see that the visitors here have a lot of fun too."
