Bad news for Ile-de-France residents who hoped to celebrate the New Year until late at night. The prefectures of the region announce pr

Millions of French people had gathered in front of their TV Monday evening to listen to the latest government measures to fight against the epidemic outbreak and, for some, to know what their New Year's Eve could look like. The good news had then fallen for them. revelers: no curfew announced for Friday December 31st.

But this Wednesday, Ile-de-France residents are disappointed while the authorities are gradually announcing new restrictions for the departments of Ile-de-France.

In Paris, the mask is back outdoors

In Paris, wearing a mask will once again be compulsory outside in Paris from Friday. The closing time for all drinking establishments on Saturday January 1 and Sunday January 2, 2022, including those with a derogatory opening authorization, is set in Paris at 2 a.m. Dance activities in all establishments open to the public are prohibited. Gatherings of people giving rise to the consumption of alcoholic beverages on public roads are prohibited. “In fact, the consumption of alcoholic drinks in groups, by their festive and social nature, can be at the origin of groups of people and induce a relaxation of barrier gestures. Failure to comply with this provision will be fined up to 135 euros ”, specifies the prefecture.

For Essonne also, dance evenings will be prohibited in establishments open to the public from Friday at 6 p.m. and until Monday at 6 a.m. "It will be recalled that these activities were already prohibited in nightclubs, which are closed, but also in bars and restaurants", specifies the prefecture. The consumption of alcohol on public roads is also prohibited. Note that the drinking establishments close at 2 a.m. until 6 a.m. on Monday. As well as an extension of the wearing of the mask outside in built-up areas for one month.

In the Yvelines, an order has also just been issued by the prefecture.

The consumption of alcoholic beverages will be prohibited on public roads, with the exception of terraces fitted out by establishments receiving the public authorized to open, from Friday December 31 from 6 p.m. until Monday January 3 at 6 a.m.

Dance activities will also be prohibited in all establishments open to the public.

The closing time for outlets to be consumed on site in the Yvelines department will be set at 2 hours on January 1, 2 and 3, 2022.

Other decisions should quickly follow in other departments.

Reduced transport supply?

In Paris, the police headquarters would also have expressed the wish, without formulating it officially, that the transport offer be interrupted from 2 am.

A request that does not find a favorable echo with Ile-de-France Mobilités.

“If we stop the subways and RERs at a late hour, it risks creating congestion.

And there is an obvious question of road safety.

Maintaining a transport offer on the night of the 31st allows users not to use their car during a risky evening.

"

“Shutting down bars and restaurants at 2 am, it's a curfew that doesn't speak its name.

An unprepared measure that the government does not seem to assume ”, tackles a close friend of Valérie Pécresse, the president (LR) of the Ile-de-France region.
