Following the publication in Walla!

Tonight (Thursday), MK Moshe Arbel of Shas addressed the State Comptroller, Matanyahu Engelman, to examine the involvement of the Minister of Religious Affairs, Matan Kahana, in staffing the head of the conversion system, including the pressure he exerted on the Civil Service Commissioner.

Arbel noted in his letter that "the Minister of Religious Affairs' involvement in dismissing the head of the party and in sewing the tender for the appointment of a candidate on his behalf is contrary to all the rules of good administration and law and constitutes a serious violation of the Minister's authority."

According to Arbel, "In his forbidden involvement, the Minister of Religious Affairs seeks to appoint an important position, which is not mentioned in the scope of his office, close to him who will advance the minister's political interests."

Kahana recently met with the Civil Service Commissioner, Prof. Daniel Hershkovitz, and pressured him to change the criteria required for the appointment of the head of the state conversion system so that he could tailor the position to a candidate on his behalf. Despite the minister's attempts at persuasion, the Civil Service Commissioner refused.

MK Shlomo Karai (Likud) said that "one must not succumb to the bitter war that this evil government led by Lieberman and Kahana against the holy of holies of Israel." MK Simcha Rotman (Religious Zionism) described Kahana as a minister of religious affairs from a party whose platform is not worth The paper on which it is written, which tries to sew a job, in order to create a conversion system that will distribute certificates that are not worth the paper on which they are written. "

MK Uri Maklev (Torah Judaism) continued to attack the Minister of Religious Affairs and said that "his 'concern' for Judaism does not stand in the way of humility,"But concern for his people and associates through serious personnel actions that was reflected in the discussions of the kosher reform - Kahana is not a minister of religious services but a minister of the service of associates."

Minister Kahana's office declined to comment for this article.
