The European Council announced the imposition of a new package of sanctions against Russia against the backdrop of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
And Sputnik news agency quoted the European Council as saying in a statement today that it had approved “more restrictive measures against Russia,” adding that the sanctions “include the sectors of finance, energy, transport and dual-use goods, as well as export control, export financing and visa policy.”
He also called on the European Council to "prepare and adopt a package of additional individual and economic sanctions against Belarus."
This comes shortly after US President Joe Biden announced new sanctions against Russia.
