A fire broke out in a train carriage.

At around 5:00 p.m. on the 23rd, a train on the Tsuen Wan Line heading for Central was on its way to Kwai Hing Station. It was reported that something suddenly caught fire in the carriage. Passengers found it and immediately moved to other carriages, and then reported to the police. Help put out the fire alarm.

After receiving the report, the fire department was mobilized as a "level 2 fire alarm", and according to the location of the train at the time, it went to the nearest Lai King station to assist in evacuating passengers and extinguishing the fire. No one was injured in the incident.

After preliminary investigation by the fire department, it was learned that the object on fire was a battery. Since there was no natural cause of the fire, it was suspected that the cause of the fire was suspicious and the police would follow up.

The police said that the fire object is believed to be a copper metal object with a volume of about 8 cm by 5 cm by 1 cm.

As the cause of the fire was unknown, the case was once classified as "arson" and was handed over to the Kwai Tsing Police District Crime Squad for follow-up.

By the early hours of the 24th, the police reclassified the case as "smoke".

After more than half a day of investigation, it cannot be ruled out that the battery of the device is short-circuited causing smoke.

In response to the incident, the MTR pointed out that the incident occurred at about 5:00 pm, and the suspected incident was a charger.

At 5:04 pm, another train was arranged to pick up the affected passengers to continue their journey.

A passenger photographed the situation of the carriages at the time of the incident. According to the online footage, one of the carriages was filled with smoke. The passenger stated that he was at Dawokou Station at the time of the filming.
