At the outset, it must be admitted that the "Peak of the Negev" is first and foremost a model for two of the founders of the state: not only a test for the people and their spirit, but a fertile ground and striving for peace with the peoples of the region, and promoting cooperation for prosperity.
From today, if you will, you can say that in the Negev, not only will the people be examined, but the peoples in the Middle East will be examined.
And it is clear that this meeting has first and foremost important security goals for the future of the whole region, and perhaps even of the whole world.
The challenge posed by Iran and its metastases is an existential threat to the State of Israel, but not only to it;
It is a threat that affects many countries in space and a bundle of trouble for the entire free world.
But why should such a historic show of strength be held here in the Negev?
Beyond the national-security interests, there are also many different opportunities in the background that all partners want to realize.
The desert is the climatic space that is common to all the participating countries: the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco, Israel, and also the United States. And in the Negev, which is the main desert part of the State of Israel, Here we have managed to overcome the water crisis and from here we will create the renewable energy for the benefit of a better and cleaner world.In the Negev, world-wide collaborations are created every day in technology, agriculture, industry, science and economics.
When the world finally begins to understand the magnitude, intensity and significance of the climate crisis, they also realize that collaborations are more necessary than ever, and especially in places with similar conditions.
And so for me it is not surprising that the Summit of Partners in the Middle East is taking place here in the Negev.
Along with the political-security discussions and the strengthening of the regional partnership with Iran, the foreign ministers of Arab countries will take with them from here the spirit of cooperation, human mobilization for the common good, growth and development in science, technology, environment, agriculture and economy.
A physical summit takes place in the Negev, and the Negev is finally at the summit, to which it is so worthy.
