Onset of winter in Bavaria: snowflakes in Munich
After spring made a guest appearance with warm early summer days, winter returned with frost and snow at the weekend.
The German Weather Service (DWD) already announced for Friday “from the afternoon with the exception of the south-east down to the lowlands flakes”.
In Munich, the first flakes were already falling from the sky in the morning.
According to the weather service, there can be 10 to 25 centimeters of fresh snow or even more in the mountains.
Below 1000 meters above sea level, however, only a few centimeters of snow are expected.
In the mountains, slippery conditions must be expected, otherwise it will get one to four degrees warm.
Only in parts of Lower Bavaria should seven degrees be reached again.
Bavarian weather: snowfall continued on Saturday
According to the forecast, on Saturday night there will be “spread snowfall down to the lowlands”.
At the weekend, it doesn't look any better with more snow or sleet, and the temperatures are only expected to rise slightly above freezing.
In the coming week, temperatures are expected to rise again day by day.
But it won't be as warm as in March - when it was over 20 degrees.
At the end of the coming week, the maximum daily temperatures should first slowly move above the ten degree mark.
