For the first time in 40 years, the Freising Old Town Festival took place at a different location.

The event lost none of its mood.

Freising

– Untere Hauptstrasse has passed its baptism of fire.

After 40 old town festivals that attracted the crowds to Marienplatz and Obere Hauptstraße, on Saturday at the 41st edition of Freising's largest beer garden, it was the Lower Old Town for the first time, where guests enjoyed the beer, the delicacies and the sun - after two years of forced Corona break.

A toast to coziness: With the best weather and music, visitors enjoyed refreshing drinks and other delicacies.

The reason for the “Biergarten” premiere in the lower old town: the construction work to open the Moosach on Obere Hauptstrasse.

The fact that not only this local innovation, but also personnel changes both in the contact persons in the city and in the breweries made the 41st Old Town Festival a special challenge for the city association for sports and for the more than 15 clubs involved, of which the people got didn't mind when the city center was declared a pedestrian zone that Saturday and beer table sets as far as the eye can see shaped the picture.

And the fact that you could only reach the party mile via the main entrances on Obere Hauptstraße, Bahnhofstraße, Ziegelgasse, Rindermarkt and Unteren Hauptstraße was something that people had already gotten used to from the pre-Corona times.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

That's exactly what the visitors were able to experience: wonderful weather, a wonderful backdrop, happy people and a pleasant white and blue atmosphere.

It officially started at 4 p.m.: The Freisinger Stadtkapelle started on the stage at Marienplatz under the direction of Jürgen Wüst and was then replaced by the Holledauer Musikanten.

In the Untere Hauptstraße, the big band from the Camerloher high school ensured a good mood, after which Berni and his friends were responsible for the musical entertainment of the young and old guests.

Strolling and strolling, sitting and chatting, drinking and eating - it was time again for the Bavarian way of life in the heart of Old Bavaria.

And because Freising's old town festival has always been a festival for the whole family, construction sites and the compulsory Corona break didn't stop the city youth care from being there with their play bus this year - at the end of Untere Hauptstraße.

Baptism of fire passed.
