Bernd Rosenbusch is getting down to business: if the 49-euro ticket really starts on January 1, it will also be available in the MVV area, says the MVV boss.

Munich - MVV boss Bernd Rosenbusch on Wednesday evening exclusively to our editors:

"The decision to introduce a Germany ticket for 49 euros is the right decision to relieve the burden on citizens and to promote climate protection.

The further increase in regionalization funds is the right step, but many more steps are necessary in the coming years to expand public transport.

We are now working on a quick implementation of the ticket.

By January 1st, 2023, the ticket will be available everywhere in the MVV area, at least as a mobile phone ticket, when it starts.

By January 1st, 2023, the ticket will be available everywhere in the MVV area, at least as a mobile phone ticket, when it starts.

The ticket would thus be cheaper than all current subscriptions in the MVV area, is valid nationwide and we will inform customers accordingly and, if desired, switch to the new ticket.

For customers who currently have the transferrable subscription, however, the existing subscription can be more interesting.

We will therefore prepare everything accordingly in the next few weeks and notify customers.”

According to Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing, the so-called "Deutschlandticket" for local and regional transport at a price of 49 euros per month should be introduced as soon as possible.

The aim is to start at the turn of the year, said Wissing on Wednesday in Berlin.

The federal and state governments had previously agreed on financial issues.

Preparatory work for the ticket had been done, but questions still had to be answered, said the Minister of Transport.
