More accidents with more injuries: The traffic situation in the area of Police Inspection 46 developed negatively in 2022 compared to the previous year. This emerges from the annual balance sheet, which the Planegger inspection, responsible for Gräfelfing, Planegg, Neuried, Krailling and Stockdorf, has now published.

Würmtal

- 913 traffic accidents occurred in the area of PI 46 last year and thus 64 or 7.5 percent more than in 2021. Compared to the last pre-Corona year 2019 with 1105 accidents, the Würmtal still performed well.

"The development in accidents involving personal injury is not so pleasing," says inspection manager Thomas Sorgalla.

115 accidents resulted in personal injury: 136 people were injured and two were killed.

In 2021 there were 82 accidents with 114 injuries and there were no fatalities.

Hit-and-run accidents are also on the rise

The number of accidents on the way to school doubled from two to four compared to the previous year, but remained well below the figure for 2019, when there were ten accidents on the way to school.

The number of escapes from accidents also increased: from 242 in 2021 to 287. Six times the cause of the accident was inappropriate speed, nine times the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Both played “a rather subordinate role” in 2022, according to Sorgalla.

The head of the department is concerned about accidents involving cyclists, including e-bike and pedelec riders.

Although they remained well below the 72 in the pre-Corona year 2019 after 50 in 2021 with 55, the cyclists themselves are increasingly the cause of the accident.

In 2019 this was still the case for 55.6 percent of accidents, in 2021 it was already 66.7 percent and last year it was even 89.1 percent.

"This development in the Würmtal is worrying," says Sorgalla.

"The cyclists are obviously in many cases careless or even careless on the road." The causes are different.

56 people were injured, an elderly woman succumbed to her serious injuries in hospital.

In 2021 there were 45 injured people.

E-scooters still played no role.
