Not really to melt away: Ice cream will also be more expensive this year.

But there are regional differences in Bavaria.

The ice index shows them.

Munich – Ice cream is one of the topics that many people eloquently reminisce about the good old days.

When the ball still cost less than one mark.

Or at least only one euro.

That's a long way off in Bavaria these days.

For a scoop of ice cream in the Free State in 2023 you have to put significantly more small change on the counter.

Dogs don't have to go away empty-handed - there is now delicious ice cream for four-legged friends in Augsburg - which is also said to be healthy.

Expensive summer temptation: The ice cream index shows the Bavarian price per scoop

The radio station Antenne Bayern has

published an ice index at

Antenne.de .

The average price for a scoop of ice cream in each administrative district of the Free State is shown there - and the average scoop price for all of Bavaria is also announced.

For the study, randomly selected ice cream parlors in the districts and urban districts were asked about their ice cream prices.

The result was that ice cream – not surprising if you know the general circumstances – has become more expensive again this year.

On average, you have to pay 1.55 euros for a scoop of ice cream in Bavaria.

According to Antenne.de,

it is most expensive

in Upper Bavaria (1.66 euros on average), the cheapest prices can be found in Lower Bavaria (1.50 euros on average).

Here is an overview of all average prices:

  • A scoop of ice cream costs on average...

  • 1.57 euros in Middle Franconia

More than two euros in Munich: Ice cream prices are constantly increasing - there are many reasons

Unsurprisingly,

the most expensive ice cream in the

Antenne.de survey is found in the Bavarian capital, Munich.

At “Gelateria – Lorenzo Corno” in Schwabing, a scoop costs 2.20 euros.

After all, the ice cream parlor near the Münchner Freiheit can still look forward to excellent ratings on Google.

Ultimately, everyone has to decide for themselves whether the ice cream is worth it.

At these prices for a scoop of ice cream, many will shake their heads and think back to the early 2000s, when a scoop of ice cream cost less than one euro.

Why has ice cream become so much more expensive?

In short - the ingredients for the sweet temptation have become more expensive,

Antenne.de

names sugar and milk as price drivers.

In addition, since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, energy prices have skyrocketed, and the cost of transporting and cooling ice has increased accordingly.
