Opinion | Netanyahu has not yet replaced a floppy disk from Oslo | Israel Hayom

2023-12-12T03:38:26.120Z

Highlights: The Israeli government is trying to change the rules of the game, writes Shmuley Boteach. He says it is the same concept that led to the defeat of the Oslo Accords. The same applies to the transfer of funds to the Palestinian Authority, he says. Boteak: "We will continue to fight against the terror of the Palestinian people" in Judea and Samaria and in the West Bank and Gaza. He adds: "There is a difference between the fight against terrorism and the fight to stop it from happening"

Maintaining the PA will not change the state of terrorism in Judea and Samaria • After turning the clock back, the uninvolved must be taken care of

The attempt by the prime minister and the heads of the defense establishment to return to the agenda, transfer capital to Mahmoud Abbas' terror authority and return Palestinian workers to work in the Green Line demonstrates that they have learned nothing.

They are stuck in the same concept that brought us this far in the south and north, the same floppy disk that was replaced and nurtured from Oslo and the "disengagement" to the surrender to Hamas in Gaza. The refreshing innovation lies in the fact that most of the cabinet ministers were determined yesterday night to change the rules of the game. Netanyahu was forced to withdraw the proposals from the agenda so as not to suffer defeat in the vote.

Prime Minister Netanyahu: "The IDF surrounded Sinwar's house, and will eventually reach him as well"

According to reports, Netanyahu and the heads of the system are once again terrorizing the ministers and the public, claiming that if we do not bring the workers from Judea and Samaria to the construction sites along the Green Line, there will be an explosion. The same applies to the transfer of funds to Mahmoud Abbas, even though it is clear that they encourage and finance the continuation of terrorism.

These very chants, regarding the entry of workers from Gaza and the transfer of Qatari money to Hamas, are still fresh in our ears. As if we had learned nothing from October 7, Netanyahu and the system are on their own. By the way, this is further proof of the fact that Netanyahu continues to lead in the footsteps of the perpetrators of the Oslo disaster, as someone who for years has guarded the Palestinian terror authority from all guards. Because what they tried to pass in the cabinet the other day is the same policy that has prevailed for the past 30 years, since Rabin and Peres' vision of peace.

It is a concept that promised us peace and quiet, but brought our bitterest enemy into us. It has produced a simmering pot of incitement and terror, which must be maintained with great force at all times. And despite the many forces dealing with it, it kills us, harms our international legitimacy and builds a Hamas-style future threat to our very existence.

In light of the dramas in the south and north, few have noticed what has been happening in Judea and Samaria over the past two months. Almost 300 terrorists were eliminated by the IDF in those two months alone, as a result of a partial change in the neutered conduct of the defense establishment, which has prevailed for years. Every night, soldiers enter cities and refugee camps in proactive operations, and almost every time they encounter IEDs and massive gunfire.

Dozens of those killed who opened fire at the soldiers and were killed were officers in the PA's "security forces," along with Fatah operatives – Mahmoud Abbas' organization. All of them are an integral part of the terror campaign that works against us. Beyond admiring Hamas, they respond to the messages of incitement they receive from PA leaders, including Mahmoud Abbas. Those who speak directly or indirectly in favor of Hamas and its goals on a daily basis.

Anyone who follows the pictures from the funerals of the terrorists, some of which are military funerals of the PA itself, notices hundreds of bearers of arms shouting impassioned slogans against us. These are armed militias that did not exist before the Oslo Accords, and which grew under the same concept and floppy disk that caused the attack in the south on Black Saturday.

And now, the head of the Likud and senior defense officials continue to wear the hallucinogenic glasses that fuel this terror authority, instead of putting an end to it. Netanyahu has been broadcasting strong messages against the PA lately in an attempt to placate his coalition and hold on to power, but as is his custom, he has done the opposite. The other day he tried to persuade the cabinet to continue feeding the monster, so that it wouldn't burst out and swallow us. Everything, instead of changing the rules of the game and turning the clock back.

Still, there is a difference between Gaza and Judea and Samaria. Because when the wheel is turned back and we pull the ground out from under the enemy we grew up in Ramallah and Nablus, we will continue to live and prosper in the city of the forefathers – Hebron, in Beit El of Jacob's dream and in all parts of Judea and Samaria. When that happens, it is important that we take care of the Arab population living there, which is not involved in terrorism and does not identify with our elimination. Among other things, it will be in our interest to enable it to earn a living with us, synergistically with the needs of the economy into working hands. However, the condition for this is a change in the rules of the game, and ending the funding and maintenance of the Palestinian Terror Authority is the first step to that end. Still, if the majority in the cabinet finally understood this basic wisdom this week, we already have encouraging signs of sanity.
