The surprise murderous attack by Hamas on 7 October fell on us out of the blue, undermining the sense of security and strength we felt on the eve of the disaster – as individuals and as a society. Indeed, many among us feel that we have fallen from Igra Rama to Bira Amiqta – from a sense of strength and strength to a reality of weakness and loss of way.
The nature of surprise attacks, and certainly a murderous attack like the one that landed on our heads, is that they terrify, throw off balance and even paralyze. This was undoubtedly one of the goals of Hamas leaders when they conceived and planned the attack, especially the massacres and abductions of civilians, women and children.
The fact that the Hamas attack ignited a fire along the borders on a broad front, from the northern border in Lebanon to Syria, Iraq and Yemen, contributes to fear and fear.
Israel finds itself facing a complex challenge, and many even perceive it, due to the trauma we have undergone, as the most complex since its establishment.
All this is understandable and natural, and there is no doubt that the heartache and sense of fracture, as well as the memory of those murdered and fallen in battle, as well as the prayer for the safety of the abductees and their speedy return to their families and homes, will continue to accompany and guide us for a long time to come.
But the way of storms and storms that they pass. And once the dust settles, some basic facts will emerge that have not only not been shaken over the past ten weeks, but seem to have strengthened.
In history, there are many examples of surprise attacks that brought about the collapse of a system that was rotten and fundamentally failing. An example of this is the surprise German attack on France in the spring of 1940, which exposed the fundamental weaknesses and decay of the state and French society, which indeed collapsed within a few days.
On the other hand, there are other examples in which the attack exposed an unforgivable, but local, failure and failure of a functioning and robust system. Thus, for example, no one will dispute that the September 11 attacks constituted a terrible intelligence and operational failure, but neither will anyone dispute that the United States was and remains a world power that moved quickly and also struck back.
True, a catastrophe has happened to us the likes of which we have not known since the establishment of Israel. But as the days and weeks pass, the resilience of Israeli society is once again proven and the strengths inherent in us become clear.
Ordinary citizens enlist in a spectacular show of exemplary citizenship, and the IDF is also functioning well, proving that the gloomy forecasts regarding its low operational capability were not real.
And besides, the world, it turns out, is in favor of us, and this is first and foremost true of the United States, the strongest and most important power in the world, and even in most European countries that back Israel, the likes of which we have not received from them for years.
And even the Arab world, which examines us according to our strength and strength, maintains its relations with us and waits impatiently for Hamas' decision by us and for the resumption of the peace and normalization process with it.

The campaign, which we began at an impossible starting point, is proceeding well and strengthens our deterrent image, as evidenced by the extreme caution shown by our enemies from the north and east.
The campaign will also lead to the elimination of Hamas as a governmental and military force in the Gaza Strip, thereby contributing to a redrawing of the face of the Middle East – a region in which Israel remains, and even more so, a powerful regional power that everyone is wary of and many also want close.
We must not forget the blow we suffered, the victims and the fallen, and we must investigate the failure in a poignant and uncompromising manner and draw the necessary lessons from it. But there is also no reason to sink into black bile. Our strength is with us, our friends are with us, and together we will win and be able to meet the challenges that await us.
