Firefighters from several municipalities were on duty for two hours. Nevertheless, the house in Lappersdorf is uninhabitable after a fire.
Lappersdorf - A residential building in the Upper Palatinate is no longer habitable after a fire on New Year's Eve. An adjacent shed in Lappersdorf, district of Regensburg, first caught fire, as a police spokesman explained on Monday (1 January). As a result, the flames spread to the roof truss of the apartment building. When the fire brigade arrived, the house was already on fire.

To fight the fire, firefighters from several municipalities were on duty for over two hours. Fortunately, there were no casualties. The police estimate the damage at about 200,000 euros. The exact cause of the fire is still uncertain. A fire investigator is to clarify whether New Year's Eve fireworks can possibly be considered as the cause of the fire. (kam/dpa)
