It remains as usual, Ryoyu Kobayashi dominates the Four Hills Tournament 2021/22 almost at will.

The Japanese also came out on top in the third jump.

However, he has to fight hard in Bischofshofen after a somewhat subdued first round.

Kobayashi secured victory thanks to an almost perfect second jump ahead of the two Norwegians Marius Lindvik and Halvor Egner Granerud.

Karl Geiger shines fourth.

After a weak first run, Markus Eisenbichler saved himself in eighth place in the top ten.

Severin Freund is twelfth, just ahead of Andreas Wellinger (15th) and Stepahn Leyhe (20th).

Four Hills Tournament, 3rd jumping in Bischofshofen: Kobayashi dominates, Geiger fourth

6:21 p.m .:

Yes!

Because the leader after the first round, Marius Lindvik, jumps two meters shorter.

The day's victory goes to the Japanese, who is now ten meters ahead of the Norwegian in the overall standings.

Karl Geiger finished in a strong fourth place.

6:19 p.m.:

Probably not very thin!

Halvor Egner Granerud can sit just ahead of the Germans, then Ryoyu Kobayashi makes a sparkling clean jump to 137.5 meters.

Is that even the third victory in the third competition of the Four Hills Tournament in 2021/22?

6.16 p.m.:

Karl Geiger can also convince in the second round.

136 meters!

He sits down clearly in front of the two Austrians.

Is that enough for the podium?

6.14 p.m.:

The two Austrians Manuel Fettner and Jan Hörl show that more is possible.

They crack the 130-meter mark and take the lead with equal points.

6:11 p.m.:

The tail wind is getting stronger.

Johann Andre Forfang (Norway) only manages 123.5 meters, Peter Prevc even less with 116.5 meters.

Do the wind conditions decide between victory and defeat here?

Maybe the jury has to intervene again ...

6:08 p.m.:

The Austrian Michael Hayböck is the first of the ten best jumpers in the first round.

With a light tail wind he can manage 131.5 meters.

6:02 p.m.:

Eisenbichler's further sentence prompts the jury to shorten the run-up again.

6 p.m.:

And it goes much further for Eisenbichler.

The Bavarian lands at 140.5 meters - the longest jump of the day so far!

This means that the podium in the overall standings is within reach again.

“I'm actually almost satisfied with the competition.

Let's see what happens next, "says Eisenbichler on

ARD

.

5:59 p.m.:

Freund can convince - he knocks out 133.5 meters.

5:58 p.m.:

Wellinger does it solidly, but nothing more.

130.5 meters and third place.

5:55 p.m.:

Now comes a German trio: First Andreas Wellinger, then Severin Freund and Markus Eisenbichler.

5.47 p.m.:

Stephan Leyhe has to be one of the first to run.

In very good conditions, he manages a very clean jump to 135 meters.

He should make up a few places with that.

5.41 p.m.:

In the first round, Lovro Kos fell, so he just got into the second.

There the Slovenian manages a huge jump to 138.5 meters.

Nobody has jumped any further yet.

5.40 p.m.:

The second round has started.

Can Marius Lindvik secure the day's victory and even replace Ryoyu Kobayashi as the overall leader?

Four Hills Tournament, 3rd jumping in Bischofshofen: 2nd round

5.26 p.m.:

After that, the runner-up in the overall standings, Marius Lindvik from Norway, is ahead of the Japanese high-flyer Ryoyu Kobayashi.

Lindvik Kobayashi lost 5.7 points, making up ground in the overall standings.

Only four meters separate the two.

The best German is Karl Geiger in fourth.

Markus Eisenbichler (16th), Severin Freund (17th) and Andreas Wellinger (18th) and Stephan Leyhe are also in the second round.

5:22 p.m.:

He can't!

Kobayashi jumps only slightly shorter than his Norwegian competitor at 137 meters.

But Lindvik had much worse conditions and stays in front.

5.19 p.m.:

Granerud's compatriot Marius Lindvik can counter.

137.5 meters mean another change in leadership.

Can Ryoyu Kobayashi go one better?

5.15 p.m.:

But just two jumpers after that, Geiger is off the tour again.

For the conditions and the run-up, an extremely strong 135.5 meters, Halvor Egner Granerud hits the snow.

He sits at the top.

5.13 p.m.:

It's going much better for Karl Geiger!

It flies at 133 meters and benefits from the bonus points for the smaller approach.

First place for the German.

5:11 p.m.:

In heavy snowfall, it now applies to Markus Eisenbichler.

But he can't bring his jump down perfectly, at the end of the day he has 130 meters to book.

That means only rank 11.

5:09 p.m.:

Andreas Wellinger fends off the attack of the Turkish surprise man Fatih Arda Ipcioglu and prevails with a decent 129.5 meters.

5:05 p.m.:

In the Slovenian duel, Peter Prevc has to go first, who jumps surprisingly well.

Pressure for third overall, Lovro Kos - he falls on landing!

However, he can stand up again.

There is a little interruption.

5:03 p.m.:

What a great jump from Jan Hörl!

He lands at 138 meters and provides an Austrian one-two lead in the meantime.

4:56 p.m.:

Now it is Severin Freund's turn: Duel opponent Daiki Ito puts forward 131 meters, Freund comes half a meter further than the Japanese and gets 2.4 points more for it - that's enough for the second round.

4:53 p.m.:

The first Kobayashi is already downstairs.

Junshiro, brother of overall leader Ryoyu Kobayashi, clearly prevails in the duel with Austrian Stefan Rainer.

4.49 p.m.:

Konstantin Schmid is currently third in the Lucky Losers, that would be enough for the second round.

But there are still many jumpers to come.

Pius Paschke, however, is already out.

4.40 p.m.:

But in the next duel, Manuel Fettner can achieve the same distance as Sato.

The Austrian takes the lead because of his better posture.

For team-mate Stefan Kraft, 2015 tour winner, however, it is only enough to reach 133 meters.

The jury reacts, however, and shortens the approach by two hatches.

4.36 p.m.:

Constantin Schmid puts forward 132 meters against Yukiya Sato.

But the Japanese countered with 137 meters - that's the provisional lead!

4.33 p.m.:

Stephan Leyhe decides the German-German duel with a width of 130.5 meters clearly in his favor.

For Pius Paschke (123.5 meters) it should also be tight with the Lucky Losers.

4.30 p.m.:

The snowfall has now become much stronger, but we can start.

The Slovenian Anze Lanisek is the first to jump.

He lands 129.5 - but his opponent Johann André Forfang (Norway) comes to 134.5 meters and wins the first duel.

Four Hills Tournament, 3rd jumping in Bischofshofen: 1st round

4.20 p.m.:

The second of the 25 duels will be a purely German matter: birthday boy Stephan Leyhe (turns 30 today) measures himself against Pius Paschke. In the fourth knockout duel, Constantin Schmid has to deal with the Japanese Yukiya Sato. Severin Freund only meets Sato's compatriot Daiki Ito in the 14th duel. The remaining German participants follow in duels 19 to 21: First Andreas Wellinger jumps against the Turkish Fatih Arda Ipcioglu, then Markus Eisenbichler against the Swiss veteran Simon Ammann and then Karl Geiger against Evgenij Klimov from Russia.

4:08 p.m.:

As usual, 50 jumpers compete in knockout duels in the first round.

Only the winners of the 25 duels and the five best losers (lucky losers) are also included in the second round.

3:51 p.m.:

In the meantime, light snowfall has set in.

In a little more than half an hour, the third competition of the Four Hills Tournament should start.

2.30 p.m.:

The qualification is history - and the probability that Ryoyu Kobayashi stumbles again is getting smaller and smaller.

His jumps are extremely stable, currently nobody seems to be able to hold a candle to him.

But the conditions in Bischofshofen are not easy, the fog got thicker and thicker in the last hour.

The competition begins at 4.30 p.m.

2:08 p.m.:

Kobayashi flies and doesn't think about landing!

The Japanese flies in a different sphere at 141 meters and once again takes the qualifying victory.

“The boy knows what he's doing,” says Sven Hannawald, impressed at the ARD microphone.

2:06 p.m.:

What a board from Marius Lindvik!

139 meters are easily enough for first place, right behind him Halvor Egner Granerud flies in third place.

Norwegian trio now on top.

2:04 p.m.:

Markus Eisenbichler, the current greatest German hope is on!

And the Bavarian flies the best distance of the day so far!

But 132 meters are only enough for second place behind Tande, because he had better wind.

2:01 p.m.:

Now the best jumpers are slowly coming.

The Austrian Stefan Kraft flies 124 meters and has nothing to do with the qualifying victory.

1.59 p.m.:

Robert Johansson cannot jump a new top distance either and is in seventh place.

Jan Hörl jumps further as a friend and is fifth.

Four Hills Tournament in the live ticker: Wellinger and friend surprise

1.57 p.m.:

Wellinger and Freund's jumps were worth a lot.

Daniel Huber (Austria) and Timi Zajc (Slovenia) grit their teeth on it.

1.54 p.m.:

Paschke is not entirely satisfied and ends up in 14th place, Schmid also only shows a mediocre jump and joins in 16th place.

Stephan Leyhe takes the jump easily, for him is 13th place.

Solid, what the three DSV eagles show.

1:53 p.m.:

Now comes a German three-pack: Pius Paschke, Constantin Schmid and Stephan Leyhe start off one after the other.

1.51 p.m.:

Daniel Andre Tande shows the best jump so far and displaces Wellinger from first place.

Strong from the Norwegian.

1:49 p.m.: Watch out

!

Manuel Fettner has problems landing and falls.

But if he falls he can still catch his skis, he is fine.

The first fall in qualification.

Again, the weather doesn't play along one hundred percent, the fog is getting thicker and thicker.

1:47 p.m.:

Andreas Wellinger flies, flies far ... And grabs the lead!

Strong jump from the former Olympic champion.

Wellinger now on one, friend on four.

It's going well for the DSV.

Four Hills Tournament in the live ticker: friend strong again

1:43 p.m.:

Piotr Zyla flies in fifth place.

The next Pole who doesn't really work.

1:41 p.m.:

The Russian Danil Sadreev and the Austrian Philipp Aschenwald sit down in front of Freund with good jumps.

The German manages the qualification easily.

1:37 p.m.: Nobody can get close

to Freund's vastness at first.

Andreas Wellinger is slowly getting ready for his jump.

Former tour winner Dawid Kubacki cannot reach his old form in Bischofshofen either, only finishing in 19th place.

1:26 p.m.:

Severin Freund makes another strong jump!

With a jump of 125.5 meters, he takes the lead in this qualification.

That's a good start to the day!

1:24 p.m.:

The Pole Stekala joins the historically weak tour of the Polish jumpers.

What's going on there?

1:22 p.m.:

The Turk Cintimar only comes to 78 meters and is very annoyed about his jump.

That won't be enough for the competition.

Four Hills Tournament in the live ticker: Qualification in Bischofshofen begins

1:20 p.m.:

A few more minutes, then we'll see Severin Freund.

In the Innsbruck qualification he was the best German.

Does he present himself in a similarly strong manner in Bischofshofen?

1:17 p.m.: Nobody has

yet been able to slip past Mogel.

Compatriot Ziga Jelar comes closest, Clemens Aigner from Austria is currently in third place.

1:10 p.m .:

The first 15 jumpers are down, the Slovenian Zak Mogel leads the qualification after 15 jumpers.

Severin Freund is the first German to venture out of the hill.

13:05:

The qualification on the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen is running!

But it will take a while before the DSV eagles intervene in the action.

The rain has subsided a little.

Update, 12:57 p.m.:

The qualification in Bischofshofen is about to start!

The German athletes prepare for their jumps.

The crucial question will be: Can Markus Eisenbichler and Karl Geiger get the dominator Ryoyu Kobayashi into trouble again?

In the qualification it is important to get a good feeling for the hill.

First report from January 5th:

Munich / Bischofshofen - There was great chaos in Innsbruck on Tuesday.

Although it was clear early on that with the foehn winds on the Bergiselschanze there would be no safe jumping at the Four Hills Tournament, the jury repeatedly postponed the start.

At 3 p.m. the final cancellation - and the move to Bischofshofen.

On the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze the 3rd competition will be made up on Wednesday.

This decision was welcomed by the athletes.

DSV hope Markus Eisenbichler even took it with humor and was ready to joke.

“I had my pants full in the wind, it is wiser that way.

Now I have to go home again and get new underwear for the next competitions in Bischofshofen, ”joked the 30-year-old Bavarian after the third Four Hills Tournament at Bergisel was canceled and relocated to Bischofshofen.

Four Hills Tournament in the live ticker: 3rd jumping in Bischofshofen - Eisenbichler chasing Kobayashi

The third competition will take place there on Wednesday (4.30 p.m.), before the grand and traditional final follows on Thursday (5.30 p.m.).

The decision to refuse Innsbruck was unanimously approved by the jumpers and those responsible.

"It would have gotten too dark at some point," commented Eisenbichler on the Bergisel facility with the still missing floodlights.

From DSV's point of view, the Innsbruck cancellation may even be a good thing, because the German eagles have rarely been able to shine there in the past.

Even if the gap to the leader Ryoyu Kobayashi is almost impossible to catch up, Eisenbichler and Co. want to try everything again.

Video: Too strong wind - third competition in Innsbruck canceled

"We are still these points behind and have to hope for a mistake from Kobayashi," said national coach Stefan Horngacher in front of the rare Bischofshofen double that had only happened once in the tour history - 2008. "If something happens , we have to be the first to stand at this point. ”Eisenbichler himself likes the ski jump in Pongau according to his own statement, but also describes it as“ merciless ”.

Karl Geiger is also still in the race for the tour podium.

The trial run begins at 11 a.m., before qualification starts at 1 p.m.

The first round will take place from 4.30 p.m.

Don't miss a thing in live ticker.
