The registry office in Neubrandenburg refused to allow the name "Ross Antony" for a man. "The man had a foreign name that was unspeakable in our language," said head of office Andreas Beck. The person concerned has stated that his previous name translates to "Black Horse".
In such cases, Germans with foreign roots could be given new names, but not by already famous people like Ross Antony. "I didn't know this entertainer, but my employees informed me about it," said Beck. Another solution was then found.
"We would not have allowed anyone to call their child 'Angela Merkel'," said Beck. Neither the first name nor the family name of celebrities should be used.
