You saw Eyal Shrekzi (22) on the small screen as a young boy in the "Zagori Empire" series, where he played a knight, the seventh and most problematic son of the family.

Then he exploded on screen in HBO's finest "Boys" series, where he played Yinon, one of the two minors who co-starred in the 2014 murder of teenager Muhammad Abu Khadir. Now he is coming to the big screen in the movie "Herzl's Horse," which came up this weekend at the cinema.

The film, directed by David Kriner, tells the story of Yigal, a teacher from Tel Aviv who starts teaching film in a high school in Sderot. Shratzi portrays Tal, a student whose father was hit by Qassam. Yigal convinces him to take a camera and record everything that happens at the hospital. In addition, he persuades more students to document their lives and surroundings - which is objectionable by the school administration. Other games in the film: Mickey Leon, Noa Astanglov, Evelyn the Redeemer, Raymond Amsalem, Tzachi Halevi, Orna Pitosi, Uri Gabriel and more.

"We shot the film in Sderot, almost a month in early 2017," says Shrekzi. "There was no war or operation, and yet there were alarms and there was pressure. I think that's also what gives the movie the real atmosphere. Every cute kid we met there proudly talked about the pride of living in Sderot. "And the film talks about that as well. It's very challenging to grow that way, and the youth there are really amazing. Kids who have more motivation and strength than kids who grow up elsewhere."

According to him, Tal's character is one of the special and challenging characters he has come to play. "I looked at the screen and said, 'Okay, this is not me and all the way to me' (laughs). A quiet, introverted thinker long before he speaks. I'm the opposite of him. On the consequences.

"You play my father in the film, Uri Gabriel, a talented and amazing actor. Tal did not have to deal with his greatest fear before his father's injury: to thank him for being gay."

One must talk for a moment about the "boys." It must have been an extraordinary experience to be filmed for this series.

"It's a project that I can talk about for hours. I don't really like to get into the politics of this thing, but we got into it a lot during filming. Can do. The moments that need to be disconnected between the character and yourself - that was the hardest part in this series. It was a very different actor's job.

Has this opened up new possibilities for you abroad?

"I've done one international audition ever since. I already have a resume in English, but I can't say the dream is necessarily Hollywood. I'm a liberated soldier who hasn't made his trip yet. Something that has a lot more to me than learning a game. "
