Three months after Chef Yossi Sheetrit left the Miache restaurant and Kitchen Market, and the Baraka house group headed by him, the group today announces that the reins will be taken over by Chef Nir Masika. Masika is one of the most prominent Israeli names in New York in recent years mainly thanks to Timna Restaurant, a restaurant that brought Mediterranean Levantine cuisine to Manhattan even before the big wave of Israeli chefs landed there. Despite the four-year success, Masika closed Timna earlier this year and is now returning to Israel to join the Baraka house group in January, which, apart from Mashia and Kitchen Market, also owns the Onza restaurant and the Maghreb restaurant.

Messika was born in Kiryat Motzkin and, because of an injury, moved to serve in the army as a cook. His first job was in the kitchen of the Gucca restaurant after graduating from cookery school, then went on to Meyer Sir's sect, where the two approached, Masika was also a private chef of the Wertheimer family. He came to New York with his partner, and after leaving the Israeli restaurant in Brooklyn, Zizi-Lemon, which took part in its establishment, started an independent road and founded Timna.

In a short space of time, local restaurant critics were tipped to avoid crowns, the restaurant won prizes and rankings on all sorts of lists, and managed to reach the consciousness of every New Yorker who is interested in food, and every Israeli who is interested in what's happening in the Big Apple. Timna finally closed for economic reasons, prompting Masika for a short visit to L28's kitchen in the spring, and now for a full return to Israel to lead the restaurants from Meshia, Kitchen Market, Onza and Maghreb.

"We are not looking for a replacement for Yossi," the Baraka house group said. "The group has undergone a number of significant changes over the past two years to adapt to the new restaurant. We have created a community of chefs and creative people who work together and violate each other, so we have found that the level of happiness, creativity and reward is simply higher for everyone. We put the food and art in the spotlight. "

The group currently owns a number of chefs who lead its restaurants, including Gil Dahan who leads Kitchen Kitchen, confectioner Hila Biderman, chef Hamudi Abulafia and chef Reut Ezer. The group is unlikely to maintain homogeneous menus, but to "mix the cards" so that each of the group's dishes can be found in each of its restaurants.
