(ANSA) - MILAN, DECEMBER 27 - A small sign of improvement in the economy: this year the debts of companies vis-à-vis banks have deteriorated at a lower rate than in 2018: 3.1% of the total has become Non performing loans ( Npl) against 3.3% in 2018, with differences however still consistent between the North-East (rate at 2.3%) and the South (4.4%).
This was stated in a report by Abi and Cerved, according to which in the next two years this improvement should slow down but will still be below the pre-financial crisis averages. "The problem of the stock of bad debts in banks' balance sheets is a solution", comments Andrea Mignanelli, managing director of Cerved. "The risk reduction trend of banks' assets does not stop: the stabilization of the flow of new impaired loans will favor further control of the NPL ratio, which we expect to converge in a short time on the targets set by the Supervisory Authorities", adds Giovanni Sabatini, director general of Abi.
