Wolverine against yakuza, entrechats at the Opera and happy dribbling ... Here is the program for your TV night on Thursday.

SCIENCE FICTION. Wolverine releases the claws in Japan

At 9:05 pm on TF 1. Among the mutants that make up the X-Men, Wolverine is by far the most popular. The good idea of having chosen Hugh Jackman to embody it on the big screen only reinforced this aura, the Australian actor proving to be perfect for interpreting a superhero despite himself brutal, even cruel.

Wolverine was therefore quickly entitled to his derivative film, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", released in 2009, and which almost prematurely interrupted the solo adventure of the mutant with big claws! Confused, even rough, soulless, this feature film, which was supposed to move us by telling the story of its hero's beginnings, completely missed its objectives ... except the spectators' purses (almost 2 million admissions in France).

A much more ambitious suite

The film was therefore finally entitled to its continuation, this "Combat of the immortal" much more interesting. Already by the choice to relocate the intrigue to Japan, sets that are hardly present in contemporary action films. Then by a more complex plot, involving a Japanese heroine and many yakuza, all experts in martial arts and cutting, sharp and blunt weapons, so for once opponents at the height of a ferocious mutant.

A much more ambitious sequel, which is also certainly due to the presence of James Mangold in the staging. The American, who in 2019 will conclude the Wolverine trilogy with the twilight "Logan" in beauty, had already proved with "Copland", released in 1997 with Stallone in the main role, that he knew how to transform a lot of muscles into flayed figure capable of arousing the spectator's empathy.

“Wolverine: the fight of the immortal” , American science fiction film by James Mangold (2013), with Hugh Jackman, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto, Svetlana Khodtchenkova… (2h06)

COMEDY. A (re) leaping adventure

/ MY Productions

At 9 p.m. on Canal +. Martin (Jean-Pierre Darroussin) is about to take his mentally retarded basketball team to the Paralympic Games in Sydney (Australia). But the coach is dropped at the last moment by his best elements. No question of throwing in the towel and therefore depriving yourself of the vital subsidy for the federation. He decides to play it all for the whole and, without talking to the psychologist (Camélia Jordana) who accompanies the group, to replace the absent by players without disabilities. Among them, Stan (Ahmed Sylla) and Pippo (Olivier Barthelemy) who strive with more or less skill to dribble the jury.

Inspired by real events, since this mystification took place in 2000 with the Spanish team, the comedy "Everyone for all" finds its balance in the distribution of supporting roles, a fairly inexhaustible source of humorous situations.

ANIMATION. Join the dance

/ QUAD / GAUMONT

At 9:05 p.m. on M6. Passionate about ballets, young Félicie runs away from her Breton orphanage with Victor, her best friend. The duo arrives in Paris, where the little girl infiltrates the opera to take lessons and realize her dream: to become a ballet dancer.

Very rhythmic, full of thrilling chases, "Ballerina" stages an engaging heroine. The views of Paris are very beautiful, like the Breton landscapes and the decorations of the Opera. The choreographies of Aurélie Dupont and Jérémie Bélingard are also impressive. The only regret for parents is the sweet pop music, a few entrechats from the “Swan Lake”…

DOCUMENTARY. New York ? No, Angoulême!

/ Curiosity & France Télévisions

At 10 p.m. on Public Sénat. The city of Angoulême, in Charente, already had two good opportunities to stand out: its comic book festival and that of French-speaking cinema. Its co-founder, Marie-France Brière, gives us a third with "And if New York was called Angoulême". Because the first name of the Big Apple was that of Angoulesme, in reference to the count of Angoulême, who will become François Ier.

In this document which takes us across the Atlantic, we follow the investigation by Florent Gaillard, director of the city's archives, in the footsteps of the navigator Giovanni da Verrazzano. The king had sent him up the east coast of America. At the level of the bay which is today that of New York, Verrazzano thought he found the passage to the Indies. He was mistaken but decided to baptize the Angoulesme site. The details of this journey which gave rise to a thesis published in 1949 are simply captivating.

DOCUMENTARY. Alain Ducasse in the oven and in the mill

/ PROD

At 10:20 pm on France 3. No chef's hat, but a white helmet for Alain Ducasse. The first images of this immersion show the king of French gastronomy on the Ore construction site, the gourmet restaurant he opened at the Palace of Versailles three years ago. We see him inspect everything, a habit. "Every detail counts", insists the one who advocates "the extra soul". For eighteen months, Gilles de Maistre slipped into the dishes of this multi-star chef.

On the plane to Japan, the latter tells the pilot the secret to successfully cooking a lobster. On the spot, we see him cooking a chard pie for a local TV. It is the only time he will get his hands dirty. The rest of the time, he tastes, tastes, smells, drinks, watches, touches, grimaces, lends himself to photoshoots, philosopher, and sometimes even, he smiles. A portrait to his glory, but which does not make him really nice.
