(ANSA) - NEW YORK, JAN 09 - For the second consecutive year, the Oscars award ceremony, on February 9 next, will be without presenter. This was announced by Karey Burke, president of ABC Entertainment, the network that airs the ceremony.
The decision was also made in agreement with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science (organization that organizes the Oscars).
Last year the formula had paid off in terms of listening and therefore it was decided to repeat it. It also helped keep the show's running time down. "The main aim - Burke explained - is to bring the show back in for three hours. The producers have wisely decided not to have a presenter and to make the films the true protagonists".
Last year the ceremony was seen by 29 million and 600 thousand viewers with an increase of 12% compared to 2017. (HANDLE).
