This is a significant season for "The Next Star for Eurovision," which will likely return in its next season to be just the "Next Star." After six years of cooperation, including one win at Eurovision with Neta, the corporation decided to say "Tank Yo, Next", and regain the right to elect the Israeli representative to the European competition. For the "next star", therefore, the next and eighth season will be a test season. Already, their attempts to highlight the program's existing benefits are highlighted in the shuffling music reality genre: the shining (and biggest) judging table on the screen, a charismatic pair (when they don't get nervous), and a good starting point for music careers (and lack of acceptance ). For example, in one of the week's episodes, they bothered to tell Maya Buscilla in Namber and on the way they said - we are not just pre-Eurovision, we are much more than that.

But back to the present - first week with the "Next Star" team, and the truth? It was tiring. Not because of the contestants, in fact, we even got some excellent Nambers, but we had to watch three long programs until we got ousted. In other words, if you expect Climax at the end of each evening, you will not receive it in this program, despite the not-so-simple competition against the "Big Brother" on the network.

What you will get, however, is some great singers, plus some decent to good ones, who will be cannonballs on the way to the finals. The sentences are "No such season!" And "this year's competition really isn't possible" try to give us the feeling of a phenomenal season, but if you listen to the contestants - notice that there is more tepid performance than performance that makes you feel like "wow, there's a great singer here."

Young and the Restless

And apropos a great singer, let's talk about the light of Amrami Brockman (17), who performed "Every Day Like a Miracle" by Amir Dadon and received justified but dangerous compliments from the judges. Amdorsky grew up making him the "most amazing thing on the show," but the danger of endlessly picking him up is that they might be urging him to stay in his safe place without trying to renew. As very excited about his first performance of Hanan Ben-Ari's "What Do You Want From Me" program, I was hoping to see him sing later in other styles and more daring in choosing the songs - which is not happening right now. One can only hope that later on he will let the tormented singer pose, for the benefit of other parties who may be there, at the moment difficult to know.

Even in the youth segment - Ella-Lee Lahav (16) and Eden Elena (18) gave amazing and dull performances in the same breath. Amazing - because they are both excellent singers and good performers. Boring - because the choice of pop hits dictated the essence of the whole show. The screaming dance and video art did nothing original, you saw half a minute - you saw everything. What about a little bit of positive insanity Billy Billy Elish, or anything else that would crush us on screen beyond a beautiful voice and cluttered screens?

Of course, in this context it should also be noted that there is a thin but intrinsic line between audacity and arrogance. Nathan Katorza (18) took a song that he grew up in several sizes ("Uptown Funk") and couldn't control it 100 percent. It has to be appreciated for the courage, and it is a pity that it cost him too early to be dismissed and that he will no longer be seen on the show. So, by the way, he reacted to his ouster.

And there is also an example of a spark of chutzpah that worked perfectly. Compared to most of the other young singers, who turned to rhythmic and / or contemporary hits, Gaia Shaki (18) sat down at the piano and conquered the screen with the intensifying performance of Narles Berkeley's "Crazy", which came out when she was four. It received the highest rating - 92 percent justified and five blue. Most marina Maximilian for her part.

Who needs more judgment?

As the cliché article, it seems that the world (of "The Next Star", anyway) still belongs to the young and not unfounded to guess where the season's winner will come from. It was fun to watch the "spice band" trying to connect with the target audience of the program with "Tel Aviv at night" by Eden Ben-Zaken. It was not enough for her to win the duel, but the judges were aware of the great potential and at the stage of impeachment chose to leave it, which is good.

Moran Aharoni also gives Fayette to the young contestants. When she opens her mouth a mighty voice resembles that of Mae Feingold and Diana Gulby, and, as they did at the beginning of their reality show, she is already marked as a worthy contender. We were delighted to see Nikki Goldstein in the final, who, besides being an energy bomb and humor as we have already written, introduced a new face to his personality and managed to bring a surprising performance to Radiohead's plowed "Creep".

In the less-than-performing performance corner, Ohad Shragai also tried to connect with the youngsters with Abichi's "Wake me up", while being original with the theatrical stance of his character breaking out of bed (take the song a little too literally, soul), but both directions a bit Miss it. There would also have been sucks in Avihu Pinchasov's sentence, which repeatedly receives from the judges the "nothing on your show" compliment, but should put on the table the fact that his self-aviation personality is so annoying that it is almost difficult to relate to the music he makes. I wonder if the character can also change during the season. Otherwise - Congratulations, we were born to Judgment 2.0.

There were also Louis Ali, Raviv Fiddler and Or Eddie, three talented performers who performed huge songs without bringing enough of themselves into the song. In contrast, Linoy and Gil took the stage with an original take on Rihanna's "Diamonds," their sweet couple gimmick still works. There were a few more contestants, but after three shows and 20 performances (!!!), we mainly wanted to see a dismissal. After three episodes, we finally parted ways with Eddie, Dana Lapidot, Nathan Katorza and Israel Delight. Is there any way we can figure it out next time on two programs? We're getting older here.
