Discovering Massachusetts with Little Women

Massachusetts invites to visit Bay State and to discover the locations of the film Little Women , nominated for six Academy Awards.

Entirely shot in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Piccole Donne comes to life in a context of historic and landscape locations preserved in an impeccable way. In honor of all this, the Massachusetts Film Office has created a map of the film illustrating all the places and sites that can be visited even today. Locations include the cities and towns of Boston, Canton, Concord, Franklin, Groton, Harvard, Ipswich, Lancaster, Lawrence, Stoughton and Waltham .

The 2019 film adaptation by screenwriter-director Greta Gerwig of Louisa May Alcott's beloved opera, Little Women, is timeless and more than ever appropriate. The film draws on the classic novel and the writings of Alcott who lived in Concord, Massachusetts. The story revolves around Orchard House , the original home of the Alcott family who lived here until 1877. A visit to Orchard House provides moving and stimulating anecdotes about the talented Alcott family who was also a great promoter of social justice and creative individuality.

The film received an Oscar nomination for the following categories:

Best Leading Actress - Saoirse Ronan
Best Supporting Actress - Florence Pugh
