Donald Trump unveils his peace plan for the Middle East today.

"The US peace plan for the Middle East may be the occasion of the century": Donald Trump has no doubts when he receives Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his political rival Benny Gantz separately in the White House to anticipate the details of a proposal that will reveal to the world at 12 (18 in Italy). "It's a very big plan, we have the support of Netanyahu and all the other parties, in the end I think we will also have the support of the Palestinians", he hopes, convinced that he has "a chance of success". The tycoon would have already shown the two Israeli leaders the map with Israel's new borders. But the road seems uphill, and not only because of the new ISIS threats against Jerusalem. It is in fact chill with Palestinian President Abu Mazen, who has so far refused all attempts by the American presidency for a telephone conversation. The Palestinians - long on their way to the US accused of being sided with Israel - have threatened to be ready to abandon the Oslo Accords if Trump were to present his plan. And tomorrow they organized a Day of Anger in all the Territories against the American proposal. Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh has already asked the international community not to "partner with a plan that contradicts the foundations of the law and the rights of the Palestinian people". "The world - he continued - must oppose the so-called American 'Agreement of the century' because it violates international law" and serves Trump "to protect it from impeachment and Netanyahu from prison on charges of corruption".

According to some advances, not confirmed by the White House, Trump's peace plan places the demilitarization of Gaza, the disarmament of Hamas, the recognition of Israel as a Jewish state with Jerusalem as its pre-condition for the Palestinians to create a state of Palestine. Israeli capital and sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and settlements in Area C of the West Bank. In the US proposal there would also be the assignment to Israel of control of the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron and the Tomb of Rachel, both in the West Bank. A few months ago in Barhein the economic contents of the American plan emerged: there is talk of 50 billion in funding for Palestine. The acceleration of the peace process comes at a delicate moment for both Trump and Netanyahu and diverts the media attention from the troubles that both of them have at home: the first for the impeachment process, the second for the accusations of corruption. Just tomorrow in Israel the parliament is called to decide on the immunity of the prime minister.
