Ponte, another 250 m deck for weekends

(ANSA) - GENOA, FEBRUARY 3 - By the end of this week, more likely over the weekend, 250 meters of deck will rise on the new Genoa bridge, bringing the linear quantity of visible viaduct to 500 total meters. A double operation which will see, in the eastern construction site, the maxi cranes used to hoist a 50-meter beam between pile 14 and pile 13, the one that went up in flames on December 31 last and now completed. To the west, on the right side of the Polcevera stream, the strand jacks, the hydraulic pistons already used in the dismantling of the old Morandi, will find themselves lifting the more than 1,200 tons of steel of the first of the three 100-meter decks. An operation that, given its complexity, will last between 8 and 10 hours. First of all, it will be necessary to move the deck, already complete with carter (wings), using controlled trolleys, after which some counterweights must be placed, followed by a first load test and if everything goes as planned it will continue with the launch.
