(ANSA) - ALBI (CATANZARO), FEBRUARY 3 - Only yesterday were 17 aftershocks - the strongest of magnitude 3.1 - recorded in the Presila of Catanzaro, epicenter in the area of Buturo-Tirivolo, in the territory of Albi, affected by two weeks by a sequence of telluric movements that seem endless. A situation that has led the mayors of the aridosso municipalities of the epicenter, in addition to Albi, Taverna, Magisano, Sellia, Sorbo San Basile, Fossato Serralta and Pentone, to prepare, for precautionary purposes and to carry out further checks, the closure of the schools.
"For days now - says the mayor of Albi, Salvatore Ricca - we have been living with this situation and have been trying to reassure and calm the citizens. However, anxiety and panic are difficult to control. It is not the extent of the shocks that increases fear, as much as the roar that accompanies them.
We know that Calabria is an area of high seismicity, but this time the novelty lies in the fact that it is the epicenter of these shocks ".
