Facebook: why the social network calls for more regulation

INTERVIEW - Le Figaro was able to speak with Monika Bickert, director of Facebook content policy, while in Paris.


Facebook is on a European tour to present its vision of the regulation of social networks. On Saturday, its CEO Mark Zuckerberg pleaded in Munich for the creation of a new legal status, halfway between that of the media and that of telecoms, in order to fix the responsibility of the platforms vis-à-vis the content shared by their users. The company has also published a white paper on these issues. These initiatives, presented on Monday by Mark Zuckerberg in Brussels, have been rejected by the European Commission.
