Winter edition of the Eilat Jazz Festival returns for its 10th year • Are you considering which shows to go? Rubio's age came to help
The young and winter brother of the Eilat Jazz Festival will open its doors tomorrow for the tenth time. The edition in the cooler and more tolerable period of the southern city, accordingly offers a slightly more pleasurable, but equally turbulent and varied musical experience of "jazz" as a central axis with leaks to classical, Israeli and even world music.
From the rich program that awaits the festival goers, we chose four shows that totally justify the arrival to Eilat, two local and two from abroad.
JAH WOBBLE & THE INVADERS OF THE HEART
The 61-year-old legendary British bassist, who collaborated during his extensive career with legends such as Brian Ino, Bjork, Baba Mal, Shinade O'Connor and others, will attend the festival with his quartet and offer "jazzy" performance to his extensive repertoire of all years.
JORGE LUIS PACHECO TRIO
The young piano virtuoso comes from Cuba as one of the new generation's representatives in the Havana jazz scene. The nickname he adheres to, "The Fire Hands," testifies to his dizzying improvisation abilities on the keyboard, taking Latin rhythms to fascinating new tonal districts.
Thom Pine trio play in the renaissance
One of the most intriguing and emerging names in Israeli jazz, Tom Oren, the first prize winner at the Thelonius Monk Institute's piano competition, arrives in Eilat with his trio. Together, they will perform songs for the French retiree Georges Bressens. They will be hosted by Corin Alal and Eran Tzur.
Oded Tzur Quartet
Another wonderful representative of the latest Israeli jazz is Oded Tzur, the surprising and esteemed sax player who releases his new album Here Be Dragons in the prestigious ECM label in the coming days. On the show he will perform excerpts from the new album with the premiere.
