The mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo and the prefect of police Didier Lallement announced the prohibition of any movement and gathering on the tracks on the bank, the lawns of the Esplanade des invalides and the Champ-de-Mars, from Friday and for the weekend.
Local residents, people working in the sector or deliverers, may waive the ban with the necessary supporting documents, they said in a joint statement.
On Île de la Cité, the police have little control over entrances to the quays, so joggers continue to run there, often out of ignorance of the new measure.
