Teddy bears looking out are appearing on window sills all over the world. In fact, the bear hunt has started, an initiative that also has a hashtag #bearhunt. It is a tribute to the children's book writer Michael Rosen who in 1989 wrote We're going on a bear hunt and is currently hospitalized in intensive care for a suspected coronavirus infection.

Rosen is also a poet as well as a writer and he wrote These Are the Hands, for the 60th anniversary of the English Health Service (NHS). These are the lines: These are the hands / that touch us first / feel the head / find the wrist / and make your bed. The poem gives the title to an anthology of poems created to raise funds to help the NHS emergency Covid-19 in Britain.

The intent of the bear hunt is to find the most hidden corners to place the soft toys, amaze and keep some company with the little ones in this period when they are stuck at home.

According to the Guardian, the New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern also placed a teddy bear at the window of the Premier House in Wellington, where he resides with his boyfriend, Clarke Gayford and their daughter Neve.
