The Hospital of San Vicente in which the 56-year-old doctor who died of coronavirus was hospitalized will remain closed for 48 hours to carry out a disinfection operation.

"We are going to close the local hospital for 48 hours, to carry out a disinfection operation and leave it in optimal conditions. Secondly, a mobile hospital will be available starting tomorrow, Saturday, near the hospital, with a reinforcement of ambulances of the ministry of health, which is what we were talking recently with the health region XI ", announced the mayor Nicolás Mantegazza at a press conference.

The communal chief specified that "all referrals will be made to the Cuenca de Cañuelas Hospital", and noted that "about 40% of the medical personnel of this hospital are in quarantine and at the moment several swabs are being carried out" .

Héctor Bornes, 56, died from severe respiratory complications caused by COVID-19. He worked at the municipal hospital Angel Marzetti, in Cañuelas, and had isolated himself at his home in the center of the town of San Vicente, last April 14, when he had the first symptoms of fever and headache.

Days ago, in the same municipality, a 47-year-old male nurse who lived in Alejandro Korn died and who caught the virus while working at the Brandsen Medical Institute, where the father of footballer Walter Montillo died of the same disease.

San Vicente is part of the third cordon of the Buenos Aires suburbs and there the isolation and the controls for the fulfillment of the quarantine will be tightened. The mayor also confirmed it: "In many cases there is talk of a managed quarantine. In San Vicente the controls are going to be tightened," he insisted.

So far, and in addition to the deaths of Bornes and the nurse Silvio Cufré, San Vicente has 17 confirmed positive cases, 15 of them are health workers.

For the authorities of that municipality, the case of Cufré was the first, which unleashed the chain of infections, and that is why a criminal complaint was filed against the Brandsen Medical Institute on the grounds that they withheld information from employees.
