Louise, 23, works in intensive care at the Sainte-Anne hospital. Monday she had a bad surprise when she left work

When she began her resuscitation internship at the Sainte-Anne hospital in January, Louise Bories did not yet imagine what awaited her. In March, the 10 neurosurgical emergency resuscitation beds were mobilized for the Covid-19.

With her extended 5th year internship, Louise is doing everything she can to be helpful. When it is not a medical gesture, she manages the patient files, or gives a helping hand to the nurses. "In this kind of period, we really want to help, in one way or another," she summarizes.

Monday, after a long day at work, Louise has a bad surprise when she leaves work. His bicycle was stolen from the hospital compound: "I didn't believe it, I told myself that it was not possible".

In addition to being a passion, his bike, in this pandemic period, was more than essential. "I avoid transport, because I continue to work in intensive care, you have to be careful." Pedaling the 5 km that separate her from her home was also a way to decompress, after intense days of work.

A prize pool and thousands of retweets

On social networks, Louise's calls to find her bike make thousands of retweets. Several people then offered to lend him a new one, for the duration of the confinement. Via the “Bicycles for the hospital” website in particular, dozens of confined city dwellers offer to help the nursing staff by lending their bicycles.

Two days after the theft, Louise finally recovered that of Gabriel, a friend who owned a very good bicycle. “He offered to tinker with it to put it back to my size. […] It touched me a lot ”.

The online kitty, created by Louise's friends, costs just over € 1,200. It is clearly enough for a very nice bike, Louise has also decided to donate all the extra money to a restaurant in the 19th arrondissement which prepares meals for carers.
