Deconfinement: "Is spear fishing authorized?"

2020-05-18T14:20:10.452Z

Access to the beaches and navigation are theoretically prohibited, but the prefects of the department may authorize them on a case-by-case basis.

Every day, Le Parisien mobilizes to answer your questions around the coronavirus. Today we are interested in the questioning of Bruno, who wants to know if he can devote himself to underwater fishing.

It all depends on where you are. The prohibition to access the beaches and the sea and to navigate remain the rule during phase 1 of the deconfinement, which began on May 11. However, the prefects of the department have some leeway. At the request of the mayors, they can decide to reopen the beaches and re-authorize certain nautical activities, such as spearfishing (or spearfishing) and boating.

Many prefectures, including those of Loire-Atlantique, Finistère or the Alpes-Maritimes, already announced Tuesday, May 12, the reopening of certain beaches. However, it is always forbidden to go there to lie on the sand or sunbathe and only so-called “dynamic” activities are authorized (such as fishing or swimming).

PlagesThe beaches of @VilleLaBaule and @ pornichet44 authorized to reopen tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Swimming and fishing allowed.

In Finistère and Morbihan, since May 14, you can also go back to the sea to indulge in boating activities. To find out what it is, you must therefore follow the information disseminated on the Internet by the prefecture of your department.

Other prefects are also examining requests from local elected officials, but they have already said they are in favor of reopening certain accesses to the sea.

Verbalizations during containment

In the Alpes-Maritimes, on April 12, a man was arrested off Antibes in the middle of a spearfishing game. Not only had he flouted the confinement rules then in force, but he had also failed to comply with fishing regulations, reports France 3.

Two other individuals were surprised by gendarmes in the Côtes-d'Armor on May 8, with 12 spider crabs, a lobster and an abalone in their nets, details France Bleu. They will be summoned to court shortly.
