On the occasion of the XXVIII World Oceans Day organized by the UN, Sky will propose a dedicated program on Monday 8 June to raise public awareness on the issue of safeguarding the seas. Sky's commitment to the defense of the oceans which continues with the Sky Ocean Rescue campaign , thanks to which it has eliminated the disposable plastic from its locations and the packaging of its products, and more generally in safeguarding the environment, with the Sky 0 campaign , with which is committed to becoming the first net zero carbon media and entertainment company in Europe by 2030.

Various contents will be on the channels of the platform throughout the day, while a dedicated collection with films and documentaries on the topic will be available on demand on Sky and Now TV . In addition to remembering the day with interviews with experts, Sky TG24, will propose the documentary Plastic Busters at 9 pm . Produced by the all news magazine and created by Daniele Moretti, the doc tells the effects of the presence of plastic and microplastic in the Pelagos sanctuary, an area of ​​the Mediterranean with rich biodiversity. Following the researchers involved in the field of the Plastic Busters project, promoted by the Department of Physical, Earth and Environmental Sciences of the University of Siena in collaboration with a consortium of international partners, the documentary shows the scholars' efforts to analyze the consequences of micro and macro-plastics on marine flora and fauna and endangered species and tries to explain not only what the present situation is in the area, but also how research tries to combat this worrying phenomenon.
