The wind from La Rochelle brings us two good news. Even if large festive gatherings remain prohibited until the end of August, the Francofolies will still be present in the Charente city in July. And they are announcing an enriched 2021 edition, with almost all the artists programmed this summer and new names to come.
"Francos in the air" this summer. Under this title, a tribute to the creator of the festival and to his show "Y a d'la chanson dans l'air", Jean-Louis Foulquier, the Francofolies will live this summer in La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime), in reduced form. From July 10 to 14, a radio studio will be set up on the port, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and will broadcast legendary concerts. Themed walks will be organized, with artists from the Chantier des Francos (Editor's note: its training center) scattered throughout the city center.
Three large photo exhibitions will mark the streets and around twenty restaurateurs will participate in the “Gourmet Francos”, offering a dish chosen by an artist. "My big challenge, announces Gérard Pont, the boss of Francofolies, is to arrive on July 14 at 8 p.m. to organize a giant karaoke where all Rochelais will sing their favorite song of the Francos, followed by a free outdoor concert with the artists of our Site, a few guests and a few hundred spectators. "
The Francofolies de La Rochelle will also live in regional and national media. France Inter will program legendary concerts, France Bleu will bet every day from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on "L'heure Francos". France 2 will broadcast a special program on July 10 with the best moments in the history of the festival and unpublished archives and France 3 Nouvelle Aquitaine will innovate with every day from the beginning of July "The secret life of a song of the Francos", hosted by André Manoukian.
An enriched edition in 2021. After two months of work, the Francofolies teams managed to reschedule from July 10 to 15, 2021 almost all the concerts that were canceled this year. Only five shows cannot be postponed: those of Vincent Delerm, Marie Flore, Yael Naïm, the American Rufus Wainwright and the Amazons of Africa. All the others, from Jean-Louis Aubert to PNL via Catherine Ringer and Nekfeu, have confirmed their participation.
