Coronavirus in France: 13 new deaths in hospital, 30,165 dead since the start of the epidemic

2020-07-22T15:12:23.709Z

The number of hospitalized patients and that of patients in intensive care units are still trending down on Tuesday.

While the President of the Scientific Council Jean-François Delfraissy estimated that the Covid-19 figures were "worrying" in France, 13 new deaths have been recorded in the hospital in the country, according to the latest data communicated by the General Management of Health.

In total, the Covid-19 has killed 30,165 people in France. Among these deaths, 19,649 occurred in hospitals while 10,516 occurred in social and medico-social establishments. The previous report, drawn up on July 15, reported 10,541 dead, or 25 more.

A little more than 450 patients in intensive care

How to explain this difference? "Santé Publique France has informed us of a reprocessing of data relating to deaths in social and medico-social establishments leading to a reduction in the number of deaths," explains the Directorate General of Health.

Some 6,482 people are still hospitalized after being infected with SARS-CoV-2. 455 of these patients are suffering from a severe form and are hospitalized in the intensive care units. The balance remains negative, however, with 12 fewer patients compared to Monday.
