In memory of the seven-year-old victim in Basel
Photo: Georgios Kefalas / dpaA 76-year-old woman has been convicted by the criminal court of Basel for the murder of a seven-year-old boy. However, the elderly woman was not given a prison sentence for incapacity for guilt; instead, detention was ordered. The court thus followed the prosecution's request.
According to the expert opinion, the defendant suffers from a serious delusional disorder, namely a troublemaker delusion. At the same time, the court rejected the parents' demands for satisfaction in the amount of around 172,000 euros and a compensation payment of around 17,300 euros.
The seven-year-old was stabbed with a kitchen knife by the 76-year-old on the way home from school in March 2019. The child died of serious injuries at the scene of the crime.
The woman blames the authorities for what she did
The elderly woman, who had been in a dispute with the authorities for decades, had justified the killing of the unknown child in court with her desperation. She acted in an affect, she said. You regret the act every day. The authorities would have pushed them so far.
"You did not act in the affect, but consciously selected a defenseless child," said the judge in the process, according to the news portal "20 minutes". The child didn't have a chance. "You stabbed the child like a lamb," said the judge. The first knife stab in the neck was fatal.
The day before the offense, the defendant wrote a text message with a confession. "Before school, you didn't do anything other than wait until the last child came up alone."
