The Ministry of Health of the Nation reported 276 new deaths and another 10,550 positive cases of coronavirus in the country on Wednesday . The vast majority of fatalities and infections were registered in the province of Buenos Aires.

In its morning report, the health portfolio had announced the death of 98 people (59 men and 39 women), of which 68 resided in the province of Buenos Aires, 13 in Jujuy, seven in the City of Buenos Aires, four in Río Negro and Mendoza and one in Tierra del Fuego and Chaco.

The fatality rate for confirmed cases stands at 2.1% and the specific mortality rate is 167 people per million inhabitants. The average age of the fatalities is 72.4.

According to the Ministry of Health, 21,476 tests were carried out on Tuesday and 1,148,574 diagnostic tests for this disease were carried out since the beginning of the outbreak, which is equivalent to 25,311.9 samples per million inhabitants.

In her usual daily press conference, the Secretary for Access to Health, Carla Vizzotti , warned that "a significant number of cases are being observed in almost all the provinces of the country" and pointed out that there are several that in the record of infections Tuesday they reported more than 100 positives.

"In the AMBA there is a high plateau , a relative stability in the number of cases and a more solid stability in the occupation of beds and admissions to therapy," said the official. And then he insisted on "recommending redoubling efforts to sustain" that "achievement."

Vizzotti remarked that the increase in the occupation of beds by infected patients "is at the expense of the provinces that are reporting an increase in the number of cases."

In that sense, he acknowledged that the situation of the Jujuy health system is observed "with concern" while working "on the management of beds" in the Rio Negro department of General Roca.

The future of quarantine

The national government will define between Thursday and Friday the new isolation stage that will begin next Monday, after analyzing with specialists and governors the scenario of the spread of the coronavirus in the national territory and the epidemiological situation in municipalities in the interior and in the AMBA.

Localities of Jujuy, Santa Cruz, Tierra del Fuego, La Rioja, Salta and Santiago del Estero, as well as the AMBA, have maintained social, preventive and mandatory isolation since the 16th of this month because their health response capacity was at risk. the growing number of infections.

For this reason, the AMBA could not yet overcome the current phase (it is in the second period) and areas of some provinces also had to be framed in a more rigid isolation , as they evidenced a rapid duplication of contagion, after having few or no cases.

In this context, President Alberto Fernández aims to maintain the usual round of consultations with specialists and governors, together with the Minister of Health, Ginés González García, to assess the epidemiological status in the provinces and what measures to sustain or deepen to avoid the spread of the coronavirus to new cities in the interior of the country.

The Buenos Aires Deputy Minister of Health, Nicolás Kreplak , said that, although the AMBA reduced "the rate of increase in cases", the increase in infections in the interior of the province and the rest of the country is " worrying ".

For the sanitarista, the data is " dangerous " because "the health system in the metropolitan area is not the same" -beyond the number of inhabitants- than in the interior of the district, where "there is less capacity," he explained.

In another order, the Buenos Aires government analyzes enabling outdoor gastronomic activity for the next phase of isolation.

Sources from the Buenos Aires Executive said that the reopening of certain activities framed in the Start-Up Plan in the City is on the agenda , which will begin to be defined in the coming hours, together with the national and Buenos Aires governments.

The Buenos Aires administration will seek the approval of outdoor gastronomy from the authorization of restaurants and bars that already have tables and chairs outside their premises.

"It will be a next step, but we still do not have a date, we are going to discuss it with the national government," anticipated the head of the Buenos Aires government Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, during a virtual communication with neighbors.

The measure under study would include the service of waiters, a certain arrangement of the tables to ensure physical distancing and some type of "demarcation of public space" to avoid crowds of people.
