Fall in New York caused a stir
Time and again, children in the USA die from exposure to extreme heat.
Most recently, a case from New York State caused a stir.
A father was on trial who had left his twins in the car when the outside temperature was up to 30 degrees.
The two year olds were killed.
The man had been charged with negligent homicide and manslaughter, among other charges.
Ultimately, however, the responsible public prosecutor no longer sought a conviction for this.
It was a tragic, regrettable incident, she said.
The man had previously pleaded guilty to the negligent endangerment process.
The mother of the children spoke of a "terrible accident" after the twins' death.
She had said she needed her husband by her side now to get through everything together.
They also have to look after their other children.
