(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 12 - Google has decided to end the offer of unlimited space to store photos.
The Colossus of Mountain View has announced that starting from the first of June users of Google Photos will have only the 15 GB that Google grants to each account.
Now, however, for the shots uploaded to Google Photos in high quality (with resolution below 16 megapixels) there are no limits.
Starting in June, all files stored on Google's cloud - Gmail messages, Google Drive documents and photos - will contribute to the "weight", and their sum must not exceed 15 GB.
Once this limit has been reached, in order to continue to keep files, you will need to free up space by disposing of unnecessary ones, or buy additional space.
Google has however explained that the photos archived before the next June are "safe", and that is the space they occupy will not be counted.
"Over the past decade, Gmail, Google Drive and Google Photos have helped billions of people securely store and manage email, documents, photos, videos and more. Today - the company highlights - people upload more content than ever - every day. Over 4.3 million GB is added to Gmail, Drive and Photos. These changes to our storage policy are necessary to provide our users with a great experience and to keep up with the growing demand. "
