Flooded areas, service cuts and falling trees were what left the heavy

storm of rain, wind and hail

 that surprised Greater Mendoza on Thursday afternoon. 

The images that several users uploaded to social networks showed streets that looked like rivers because of the amount of water that fell in a few minutes.

The size of the stones was also astonishing when it hailed.

(Edemsa) they reported that as a precaution they would carry out an evaluation of the state of the service, since the fall of abundant water affected facilities and led to power outages.

"There are reported interruptions in the electricity supply in several areas. The most affected areas are Las Heras, Guaymallén and Ciudad. The significant rain was accompanied by hail and gusts of wind that caused the fall of branches on the power lines and the filtration of water in electrical installations, "they reported. 

Some of the points where the streets were most affected by the rains were Avenida San Martín, Arístides, Emilio Civit and in the streets of Parque San Martín.

In Guaymallén there was also flooding of streets, leaves and branches on the road and the fall of some trees, according to Jorge Carrizo, director of Community Services, Road Safety and Civil Defense, detailed to Los Andes.

Another of the most affected communes was Las Heras, where its central part had to suffer the interruption of several streets due to water.

In a report he detailed that there were 32 trees fallen in different districts of Las Heras and 15 more in El Algarrobal;

as well as fallen roofs in the Agustín Mazza, Jorge Newbery, Junín, Miranda, Jofre, and Pascual Segura y Martínez neighborhoods.

"Three fallen posts were also registered in the Belgrano neighborhood. The needs of the residents are being assisted with mattresses, nylon and bags. They are waiting for the water to drop in the most complicated areas to be able to advance with municipal vehicles," they pointed out.

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) launched an alert for Mendoza, which also affects the southwest and center-west of Buenos Aires, South of Córdoba, La Pampa, Center and east of Mendoza, San Luis.

"The coverage area is partially affected by storms, some of them being strong, being accompanied by abundant falling water in short periods, intense gusts, strong electrical activity and falling hail," they reported.

In addition, they indicated that "conditions will temporarily improve between the early hours and the afternoon of Friday the 13th, when they will begin to develop again. Until dawn tomorrow, accumulated precipitation values ​​between 40 and 60 mm are expected, which may be exceeded in a timely manner."
