Spain continues with an incidence of more than 500 cases of covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, but it has been taking steps to lower that figure for a week.

The curve falls this Thursday (with an average incidence of 504 compared to the record of 528 on Wednesday, November 4) and it is observed that practically all the communities with the worst figures evolve for the better: either they have fewer cases or they rise much more slowly than just ago few days.

But this decline will still take time to be reflected in a drop in the number of deaths: Health has reported 19,511 new cases and 356 deaths, which brings the average for the week to 300 per day.

The director of the Center for the Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies (CCAES), Fernando Simón, assessed the data this Thursday, warning that the situation is "still very complicated" and that it is "far from the objectives": to reduce to 25 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

"But the evolution indicates a stabilization and a decline in some autonomous communities", he pointed out.

Although the situation varies greatly by territory, the disparities of a few weeks ago are no longer visible, in which some rose sharply while others had the opposite trajectory.

The only ones that maintain a clearly upward trend are the Valencian Community, Asturias and Cantabria, which have reached, respectively, 297, 551 and 511 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

In the others in which the incidence increases, it is already doing so at a very slow rate, with a very small difference compared to previous days.

This is the case of the Basque Country and Castilla y León, which, although they have very high levels, already seem to be close to the peak.

In the other 12 communities, the incidence is decreasing at a greater or lesser rate.

“The trend is favorable, but the number is still very high.

We cannot allow these figures to be maintained, which are still going to have an impact on the health system, both in occupancy of conventional beds and ICUs for at least a few more days, with variation by autonomous community ", said Simón. 16.4% of the former is occupied by coronavirus patients, a percentage that rises to 31.9% in critics.

Simón has ensured that Spain is controlling the virus without the need for drastic measures such as home confinements and has ruled out that they are necessary for the moment.

Faced with the request from Castilla y León to impose this limitation in Burgos, where the incidence has soared above 1,700 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the director of the CCAES has ruled it out.

“With the measures of the current state of alarm, there is no mention of home confinement 24 hours a day, but if all the available ones are applied to the maximum, the situation would be very similar.

If [confinement] is necessary, it is there, "he pointed out. The ministry and the Castilian-Leon government met this Thursday afternoon to address the situation, without concrete progress.
