Warner confines the cinema to a folding seat

In 2021, the Hollywood studio will simultaneously broadcast its films on the big screen and on its HBO Max service.


Warner is changing the rules of the cinematic game.

After announcing the launch of

Wonder Woman

on December 25 in the United States, simultaneously on its HBO Max platform and in theaters, the studio has just taken a new step.

It intends to apply the same principle to all of its films scheduled for 2021. That is to say 17 feature films in total, including the highly anticipated

Dune

and

Matrix 4

.

Warner may justify this decision by the need to limit the impact of the health crisis on its activity, it would be risky to see only a purely cyclical announcement.

The country is still very hard hit by the epidemic, especially in California and New York, two regions where a large part of the cinema tickets are concentrated.

And most theaters in the United States will likely run at reduced capacity for many months to come.
