Armando Manzanero
tested positive for COVID-19, reported the Society of Authors and Composers of Mexico, of which the singer-songwriter is president.
Manzanero, 85, "is being treated in accordance with established protocols," the SACM said on Twitter.
"We appreciate the concern and displays of affection from Authors and Composers, the general public and the media," added the organization.
This year Manzanero, composer of romantic music classics such as "Contigolearned" and "Somos novios", received the Award for Artistic Career at the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
In 2014 he became the first Mexican to receive a Special Lifetime Grammy, and in 2010 he received the Award for Musical Excellence from the Latin Recording Academy.
Their album “Duetos” won the Latin Grammy for best pop vocal album by a duo or group in 2001.
He has composed about 400 songs, among which “Adoro”, “I'm going to turn off the light” and “This afternoon I saw it rain” stand out.
Raphael, Tony Bennett, Diego “El Cigala” and Elis Regina are some of the artists who have interpreted him, while as a producer he has worked with artists such as Luis Miguel and Angélica María.
