Kobe Bryant's widow decided to speak up, calling Sofia Laine's action "frivolous, embarrassing and unimaginably hurtful."

After it became known that

Sofia Laine

,

Vanessa Bryant's

mother,

filed a lawsuit against her own daughter,

Kobe Bryant's

widow

decided to speak out, calling this action "frivolous, shameful and unimaginably hurtful."

In a statement sent to 'People', Vanessa assured that her mother wants to take advantage of the situation her family is going through, and wants to extort money from them.

"My mother keeps trying to find ways to get a financial windfall from our family. I have supported her for almost 20 years, and she was never my personal assistant or Kobe's, nor was she a babysitter. I have always been a stay-behind mother. at home, and my husband and I were our daughter's full-time caregivers, "Bryant said.

In this way, Vanessa clarified that although her mother lived in one of the couple's properties, and even sometimes took care of her daughters as any other grandfather has done, she never did any work for the family.

"For almost two decades, we arranged for my mother to live in our nearby properties at no cost to her because she had claimed that she had no money to buy her own house after her divorce. My husband and I thought it best for her not to live in our house. She took care of our girls from time to time, as most grandparents do. She did not take care of business matters or expenses, "he explained.

It should be remembered that in the lawsuit filed in California, Sofia, 68, demands financial support from her daughter on the grounds that she worked without pay as a "personal assistant and nanny" for the family.

Laine adds in the lawsuit that Kobe, prior to his death on January 26, had promised to "take care of his mother-in-law for the rest of her life."

"Unfortunately, Kobe Bryant's promises did not see the light of day, as he has already passed away, and Vanessa Bryant took each and every step that she could to nullify and cancel all the promises that Kobe made," the document says.

At this, Vanessa replied that Laine is now trying to get more money than she and her husband spent to support her while he was alive.

"My husband never promised anything to my mother, and I would be very disappointed with her behavior and lack of empathy," she stated.

Finally, she added that Sofia was always supported by her and Kobe, however, now she wants money in exchange for a job she never did.

"Now he wants to charge me $ 96 an hour for supposedly working 12 hours a day for 18 years to take care of his grandchildren. Actually, he only occasionally took care of my older daughters when they were little," he said.

"Our daughters have been full-time students and athletes for 10 years and I didn't have another daughter until 2016. Her claims are obviously false, but I still tried, repeatedly, to fix things with my mother," concluded Bryant.
